Music

The music has two sides to it: the singer-songwriter-ish side and the free-er, sometimes more chaotic, but always loop-based experimental-ish side. I'm a classically-trained vocalist, so vocals are most always the focal point of a piece. Don't call me "Nuda." It's a bandname, not an alter ego.

In February 2009, I officially released "Songs for Doing Dishes & Still Lives," my double disc debut on the Aether Everywhere label (which was named one of the 10 best Vermont recordings of 2009). The recordings span at least a year and have been brought together in these two discs, together capturing the dichotomous nature of the music. The best part about the project was definitely the packaging. I found, cut, sewed, burned, stuffed, labeled, etc. 123 handmade CDs and accompanying sleeves constructed from recycled LP art. Check out some of the covers in the image gallery. I only have about 8 or so left, so if you'd like one, please e-mail me nudaveritasmusic[at]gmail.com. UPDATE 3/14/10: I no longer have any of the LP sleeve editions of SfDD/SL. However, I have culled my favorite tracks from each and compiled them on Still Doing Dishes. These are housed in an origami case folded with my favorite green striped accountant ledger paper, a piece of teal ribbon, and a small square of neon pink duct tape. There is a track listing typed onto a small piece of semi-transparent typewriter paper (just a small square folded in two). At the time of typing, I found that making up a story would help me remember the track listings, which it did. What follows is the succinct story, with track listings in CAPS. Think of it as a 60s sc-fi adventure comic strip with each short phrase being a vignette. "EXPERIMENT CAPTAIN BLACK" DRIVE! NO. 1, NO. 2! Let's go! This is the LAST HURRAH! (they speed towards the opening of the collapsing space cave) NO. 3. Curse him! (shaking fist) NEVER AGAIN will he fool us! NO. 4, jump on! We will not leave you behind. NELLIE AND PETER, quick! Grab my hand and I'll pull you up onto this PIANO.
